The Constitutive General Assembly of the Management and Operation Company of the Ben Guerdane for Commercial and Logistics Activity Free Zone (BGFZ) was held on December 21, 2024, at the Governorate of Medenine, marking a strategic step in the implementation of this national and regional development project.

In this context, the Tunisian Office of Trade (OCT), as a leading public actor in the regulation trade and national market supply, plays a central role in supporting and guiding this new platform. With its extensive experience in import operations, logistics management, and supply chain security, the OCT is expected to actively contribute to the operational success of the BGFZ by facilitating the flow of goods, overseeing import-export procedures, and supporting marketing strategies at both regional and cross-border levels.

The OCT’s involvement in this initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting major national economic projects, boosting foreign trade, and strengthening exchange with neighboring countries, while upholding its mission as a guarantor of market stability and transparency.

The following steps are essential for the effective operational launch of the Ben Guerdane Free Trade and Logistics Zone. They are outlined as follows:

  • Completing the external connection of the Ben Guerdane free zone to the national and regional road networks, to ensure smooth access and efficient movement of goods and logistics services.
  • Amending Government Decree No. 346 dated March 9, 2017, which concerns the granting of incentives to the Tunisian Trade Office as stipulated in Article 52 of the Investment Incentives Code, in order to strengthen the legal framework and encourage economic stakeholders.
  • Launching the necessary internal technical studies for the development of the first section of the zone, covering an area of 71.2 hectares. These studies include:
    • Defining the boundaries of land parcel groups
    • Drawing the main structural road axes
    • Identifying technical lots allocated to public services
    • Mapping the routes for various public utility networks (electricity, water, telecom, etc.).
  • Preparing detailed architectural and engineering implementation plans for internal development works, as well as constructing the external fence of the free zone to establish its perimeter and ensure security.
