As part of the government ongoing commitment to enhancing food security and regulating the national market, the Tunisian Trade Office plays a central and strategic role in ensuring the regular supply of essential commodities, particularly coffee intended for household consumption.

Since the beginning of this week, the Office has begun implementing a special program developed by the Ministry of Trade and Export Development. The objective is to improve supply and ensure the availability of this vital product across the country, in line with national directives aimed at preserving market balance and meeting consumer needs.

This program follows the decisions made during the regional directors’ meeting held on Monday, July 7, 2025. The Tunisian Trade Office has activated a comprehensive distribution plan based on the following pillars :

  • Allocation of weekly quantities through standard commercial channels via a modern digital application developed and managed by the Office, ensuring efficiency and transparency in distribution.
  • Approval of additional quantities distributed according to the specific characteristics of each region and directed primarily to roasting units that are actively committed to supporting regional supply, under the supervision of regional departments of Trade and Export Development.
  • Allocation of further additional quantities directly to major retail chains nationwide to reinforce the presence of coffee in organized sales points and facilitate consumer access.

This program, along with others to come, falls within the Office’s continuous efforts to ensure regular supply, balance supply and demand, and effectively contribute to stabilizing the market and avoiding potential shortages.

The Tunisian Trade Office reiterates its commitment to serving the public interest and calls on all coffee roasting units, particularly small-scale ones, to actively participate in this program by submitting their requests to the relevant Trade Office centers or regional trade and export development directorates. This participative approach is key to expanding the scope of intervention and ensuring the success of this initiative.
